What Does OSHC Not Cover?

While OSHC offers important health protection, it does not cover all types of healthcare services. Exclusions typically include:
- Dental care
- Optical services (such as eye tests and glasses)
- Physiotherapy and other allied health services
- Elective or cosmetic surgery
- Treatment provided outside Australia
- Non-PBS-listed prescription medications

Some OSHC policies may also have waiting periods for pre-existing conditions or pregnancy-related services. To access services like dental or optical care, students may consider purchasing an extras policy or combined cover from a private health insurer.
